Abramoff Scandal Threatens to Derail Reed's Political Ambitions

Abramoff Scandal Threatens to Derail Reed's Political Ambitions

The Washington scandal over lobbyist Jack Abramoff may claim a casualty outside the nation's capital: Ralph Reed, a former presidential-campaign adviser who once headed one of the U.S.'s largest Christian activist groups.

Disclosures that Reed once ran an anti-gambling campaign that was secretly financed by casino-owning clients of his friend Abramoff have damaged his ability to raise funds for a bid to become Georgia's next lieutenant governor, other Republicans say. That may undercut his chances of winning an office that he could use as a steppingstone to national political ambitions, they say.

Campaign-finance reports filed this week show that Reed, 44, lagged behind opponent Casey Cagle in fundraising for the July 18 Republican primary during the past six months, after collecting more than twice as much money as his rival before that. Cagle raised $667,000 from June 30 to Dec. 31 to Reed's $404,000.

I think its very important the truth come out, ESPECIALLY with the religious hypocrites

British Officer Blisters US Army in Iraq Critique

British Officer Blisters US Army in Iraq Critique

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Army has displayed damaging cultural insensitivity in Iraq, while being blinded by unrealistic optimism and predisposed to use maximum force, a senior British officer wrote in a blistering appraisal in a U.S. military publication.

The essay by British Army Brigadier Nigel Aylwin-Foster, who served with U.S. forces in Iraq from December 2003 to November 2004, appeared in the latest edition of the magazine Military Review, published by the U.S. Army.

Aylwin-Foster said U.S. Army personnel struggled to grasp the nuances of battling insurgents while also winning the hearts and minds of ordinary Iraqis.
"Moreover, whilst they were almost unfailingly courteous and considerate, at times their cultural insensitivity, almost certainly inadvertent, arguably amounted to institutional racism," Aylwin-Foster wrote, arguing that the Army exacerbated the task it now faces by alienating significant parts of the Iraqi population.

An Army spokesman at the Pentagon, Paul Boyce, said "we may not agree with it" but the Army wants to present candid views.
"The U.S. Army encourages alternate and diverse opinions so that we may find out more about our effectiveness, lessons learned and how to adapt in the future. We invited this particular commentary and published it in our magazine," Boyce said on Wednesday.
Britain has been the chief U.S. ally in the Iraq war, launched in March 2003, and about 8,500 British troops serve alongside 147,000 U.S. troops there now. Two dozen other countries also have troops in the U.S.-led coalition.

Other critics also have accused the U.S. military of a lack of understanding of Iraqi and Islamic culture. The military concedes that the vast majority of U.S. troops do not know Arabic, and has launched an effort costing $750 million over five years to improve foreign language skills in the ranks.

'DAMAGING OPTIMISM'

Aylwin-Foster, whose rank equates to a one-star U.S. general, referred to U.S. Army officers' "damaging optimism" that seemed out of touch with a more sobering reality.

"Self-belief and resilient optimism are recognized necessities for successful command, and all professional forces strive for a strong can-do ethos. However, it is unhelpful if it discourages junior commanders from reporting unwelcome news up the chain of command," he wrote.
"Force commanders and political masters need to know the true state of affairs if they are to reach timely decisions to change plans: arguably, they did not always do so," he added.

Aylwin-Foster faulted "moral righteousness" felt by U.S. personnel that "encouraged the erroneous assumption that given the justness of the cause, actions that occurred in its name would be understood and accepted by the population, even if mistakes and civilian fatalities occurred in the implementation." (no, its not understood OR accepted)

Aylwin-Foster said U.S. forces in Iraq were more disposed to use offensive military operations than the forces of coalition partners, and U.S. rules of engagement "were more lenient than other nations', thus encouraging earlier escalation."

Aylwin-Foster lauded the U.S. Army's sense of patriotism and its talent, and said it was "in no way lacking in humanity or compassion."
"Yet it seemed weighed down by bureaucracy, a stiflingly hierarchical outlook, a predisposition to offensive operations, and a sense that duty required all issues to be confronted head-on." Indeed, at any expense, let justice prevail to that hierachy, who WE find intolerable.

Probe Set In NSA Bugging

The National Security Agency's inspector general has opened an investigation into eavesdropping without warrants in the United States by the agency authorized by President Bush after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, according to a letter released late yesterday.

The Pentagon's acting inspector general, Thomas F. Gimble, wrote that his counterpart at the NSA "is already actively reviewing aspects of that program" and has "considerable expertise in the oversight of electronic surveillance," according to the letter sent to House Democrats who have requested official investigations of the NSA program.

Gimble's letter appears to confirm that an internal investigation into the NSA's domestic eavesdropping program, authorized by Bush in a secret order revealed in recent weeks, is underway. The Justice Department has opened a separate criminal investigation into the leak of the highly classified program's existence.

Officials in NSA Inspector General Joel Brenner's office could not be reached for comment last night.

Barry Tested Positive for Cocaine Use In the Fall

D.C. Council member Marion Barry tested positive for cocaine use in the fall in a drug test ordered by a court after he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor tax charges, according to two sources familiar with Barry's case.

Barry, who served four terms as mayor and was elected to the Ward 8 council seat in 2004, has since begun treatment for drug use, the sources said, but Barry's failure to pass the mandatory drug test puts him in legal jeopardy.

Surprise, surprise. Maybe you should Check George as well.
He has a history of a fancy for coke, and has the mentality of one who imbibes often.
...Kind of like Hitler, who used it daily along with his repertoire of vitamins and other narcotics.

But Enough About You, Judge; Let's Hear What I Have to Say - New York Times

WASHINGTON, Jan. 10 - The Supreme Court confirmation hearings of Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr. were supposed to be about the judge, but on Tuesday it sometimes seemed as though somebody forgot to tell the senators on the Judiciary Committee.

The lure of 50 cameras and the captive audience in the Senate Hart Office Building appeared too much of a temptation for some of Capitol Hill's windiest lions, who began by promising not to run a marathon session of questions, then did so anyway.

At one point Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Democrat of Massachusetts, was even granted two extra minutes from the committee's chairman, Senator Arlen Specter, Republican of Pennsylvania - drawing groans from colleagues, among them Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York.

"Be quiet over there," Mr. Kennedy admonished his fellow committee members, to laughter. "Scurrilous dogs."

The highest ratio of words per panelist to words per nominee was that of Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., Democrat of Delaware, who managed to ask five questions in his 30-minute time allotment.

"I understand, Judge, I am the only one standing between you and lunch, so I'll try to make this painless," he began, with some promise.

Mr. Biden then dived into a soliloquy on Judge Alito's failure to recuse himself from cases involving the Vanguard mutual fund company, which managed the judge's investments. After 2 minutes 50 seconds - short for the senator - Mr. Biden did appear to veer toward a question, but abandoned it to cite Judge Alito's membership in a conservative Princeton alumni group.
Mr. Biden discoursed on that for a moment, then interrupted himself with an aside about his son who "ended up going to that other university, the University of Pennsylvania."

Judge Alito, who had been sitting without expression through Mr. Biden's musings, interrupted the senator midword, got out three sentences, then settled in for nearly 26 minutes more of Mr. Biden, with the senator doing most of the talking. With less than a minute to spare, Mr. Biden concluded, thanked Judge Alito for "being responsive," then said to Mr. Specter that "I want to note that for maybe the first time in history, Biden is 40 seconds under his time."

The audience laughed appreciatively.

Indeed, Senator Biden can talk. An interesting cast of characters, these Senators.
I've engaged in written correspondence with several, recieved some blanket responses initially, then some more personal as time went on. If you want to be heard, you have to make some noise ;)

Alito should NOT be confirmed, in my opinion.

In Strong Words, Bush Tries to Redirect Debate on Iraq - New York Times

WASHINGTON, Jan. 10 - President Bush issued a stark warning to Democrats on Tuesday about how to conduct the debate on Iraq as midterm elections approach, declaring that Americans know the difference between "honest critics" and those "who claim that we acted in Iraq because of oil, or because of Israel, or because we misled the American people."

Its not just the democrats, and you have NO right to warn anyone in this country about what we know to be the TRUTH about YOUR lies.

Expatica's German news in English: US defends Guantanamo ahead of Merkel visit

US defends Guantanamo ahead of Merkel visit
10 January 2006

WASHINGTON - The United States on Monday rebuffed German Chancellor Angela Merkel's call for closing the Guantanamo Bay detention centre for suspected terrorists, an issue Merkel says she will take to President George W. Bush this week.

"Everybody hopes we get to the point where we don't need a facility like this. But we are not at that point." U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said. "Guantanamo serves a purpose and it's there for a reason."
"If these people were released they'd be right back in the fight," he added.

Merkel told Der Spiegel magazine that an alternative to Guantanamo must be found and that intends to press her views with Bush at their White House meeting on Friday.

The United States holds about 500 detainees at the naval base on Cuba. The facility has been the focus of intense international criticism from human rights groups, some foreign leaders and the European public.

"An institution such as Guantanamo cannot and ought not to exist long term in this way. Means for a different treatment of the prisoners need to be found," Merkel told the weekly magazine Monday edition.

Merkel is making her first trip to Washington since succeeding Gerhard Schroeder as chancellor in November. She has vowed to improve U.S.-German relations, which soured badly over Schroeder's strong opposition to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.

Thank you Chancellor Merkel.

CIA Control games

I have found way too many entries on this subject and it IS in the FBI freedon of information act, but of course no information is available.

The premise now goes back to my first blog, and The Bush's patricipation with Skull and crossbones, and new World order, Iluminati, etc.

It seems the United States is playing some nasty games, the CIA plays very convoluted control games, and the FBI hide its traces, unless the CIA covert ops convince the subject to commit suicide, OR if they are neutralized. (Killed)

What started as a fact finding conclusion of how the US got to the condition it is in now, turned into a nightmare of very sick operations.

If these stories after what I discovered to be actual fact about our relations with Taliban, Halliburton got its pipelines in Iraq, AFTER the FBI covered up knowing that 9/11 was going to take place and the premeditated attack on Iraq, I have no respect for this country's leaders.
Let our enemies do with them what they will, yet we seem to be the enemy based on my findings.

I can no longer tolerate the current administrations conduct, and would like to renounce my citizenship, if only on a personal level for now.
There is no justifying the actions of a self serving agenda, at the expense of the american people, and the blood of innocent people in this or any other country.

Everything I have read tonight is deplorable, I have no reason to doubt the reality of most of it.

Secret Cold War Experiments Performed
On our Children and Other Innocent People

The Central Intelligence Agency [CIA] bought my services at the tender age of four from my grandfather in 1952. Over the next 12 years, I was tested, trained, and used in various ways.

Electroshock, drugs, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, and other types of trauma were used to make me compliant and split my personality (create multiple personalities for specific tasks).
Each alter or personality was created to respond to a post-hypnotic trigger, then perform an act and not remember it later. This “Manchurian Candidate” program [1] was just one of the operational uses of the mind control scenario by the CIA. Your hard earned tax dollars supported this. P. xvii

The CIA financed research project code-named MKULTRA was established to counter Soviet and Chinese advances in brainwashing and interrogation techniques. It consisted of 149 subprojects contracted out to at least 80 institutions.

It was designed to study the use of biological and chemical materials in altering human behavior. CIA Director Allen Dulles approved MKULTRA on April 13, 1953. Twenty years after the conception of the MKULTRA project, all known files pertaining to it were ordered destroyed by [then CIA Director] Richard Helms before he retired.

In 1977, through a Freedom of Information Act [FOIA] request, 16,000 pages of mind control documents were found, held as part of the Agency’s financial history. Most of the important details were conveniently destroyed to conceal their wrongdoing. p. xvi, xvii

As a survivor of CIA programs Bluebird/Artichoke [2] and MKULTRA, I began my intense search to document some of the mind control experiments that I was made part of. 48 years after I was first experimented on, through a series of FOIA [Freedom of Information Act] requests to various departments of the government, I found solid proof of my memories—nearly 18,000 pages of declassified documents from the Bluebird/Artichoke and MKULTRA programs that validate my personal experiences. P. xvii

One of the documents states, [3] “Learning studies will be instituted in which the subject will be rewarded or punished for his overall performance and reinforced in various ways—with electric shock, etc. In other cases drugs and psychological tricks will be used to modify attitudes. The experimenters will be particularly interested in dissociative states [multiple personalities or alters], and an attempt will be made to induce a number of states of this kind, using hypnosis.” The government had finally handed me the validation I had been searching for. P. xvii, xviii

My goal in writing this book is to expose the misuse of power that took place in this country during the Cold War. Thousands of innocent children who have now grown into adults are silently suffering from the effects of experiments that were done to them by their own government. Many have been diagnosed incorrectly and institutionalized. Some died because they knew too much. Others, like myself, were able to obtain competent medical help, and are struggling to heal from the physical and mental ravages upon our beings. P. xviii

For skeptics, no proof will be enough. For others, like myself, unraveling the bizarre nature of my memories has allowed me to regain control of my life. My greatest gift of healing has been to no longer operate out of fear, but from a rational, logical based reality. Will we let this story lay in the shadows forever, or do we have the courage to address these wrongs and give survivors back their voices? You be the judge. P. xix
